Description

Complementing Live at Sogn 1968 are these three tracks from a  radio broadcast a year later, November 1969. The quartet—Ditlef Eckhoff (trumpet), Espen Rud (drums, b. 1948), Ivar Antonsen (piano, b. 1946), and Sture Janson (1943–2025)—had clearly been practicing hard before heading to Marienlyst and the NRK studio. You can hear it in the music: tight timing, top energy, dynamic interplay, and not a wrong note.

Getting any studio time for jazz back then was a big deal, and when you had that one chance, you made it count. One of Ditlef’s own compositions is included, worth the price of the EP alone: the lovely Dance My Shadow, a beautiful waltz with flowing improvisation and a distinct Norwegian feel. Alongside it is a hard-bop track, Gingerbread Boy, and the ballad Don’t Blame Me on the flip.

This is a limited edition 35-copy lathe cut, individually numbered, and comes in reused sleeves we’ve sliced to fit the 10-inch format. Only one copy per customer.
