Description

We’re very glad to present this unique free jazz recording, featuring top West Coast Norwegian talents: Inge Weatherhead Breistein on tenor sax, Isach Skeidsvoll on piano, Torkil Hjelle on bass, and Nils Are Drønen on drums. Recorded in Bergen, Norway,  the set spans both sides of the album as a continuous free-form outing—at times aggressive, at times not so and opening into melodic, modal breathing room. With plenty of energy it’s exactly the kind of free jazz we appreciate at the label: not too far out, but rooted in the American free jazz scene of the 1970s—think Clifford Thornton or Julius Hemphill—with pulse and rhythm very much alive throughout.

With massive motion on the piano, Isach can knock out these great chord runs, a little reminiscent of Dollar Brand or peers like Chris McGregor. Inge Weatherhead has been playing for several decades, and we really dig his tenor improvisations. And the backbone is truly on fire—at times erupting like Mohican battle roars in the middle of all the action, or rather, excitement.

Only 50 copies have been made, all individually numbered and housed in reused sleeves. These will go fast, so if you want one, don’t hesitate. The earlier the you order the lower is your number on the sleeve.
